Pat Donaldson now lives in Texas after living in various areas of the country. Drawing from her experiences, she combines a love of the mountains in the Midwest with the low-country of the Carolinas in her artwork. Beginning in the 1970’s with painting (watercolor, oils, pencil), she started working with glass in 2005 and has combined years of painting with her years of fusing glass to produce unique landscapes meticulously created with glass frit. Frit is ground glass and comes in various textures from a coarse gravel-size to a fine powder.
She has studied painting under Nancy Ricker Rhett and Barbara Shipman in South Carolina and Janis Bryant and Soon Y Warren in Fort Worth. Pat has taken classes in glass fusing techniques from Bob Leatherbarrow, Paul Tarlow, Miriam DiFiore, and Kari Minnick. Pat has combined various aspects of those artists with her own expertise to create a unique combination of painting with glass frit. Her work is exhibited in galleries in Fort Worth as well as Kayenta, Ivins UT.
